What is free and open source software?

Free and open source software is the freedom to get, use, modify, and share software, at no cost.

Open source software is software where the source code is freely available. This allows developers and curious users to tinker with and alter the application to suit their needs. A large portion of the world's most prestigious software is open source, from Wikipedia to Firefox.

Almost all open source software is also free to download and use. "Linux" in general and almost all Linux distributions are free and open source. AlexandOS is one of them.
